But first, let’s see what a product bundle is and what are the benefits of creating it.

In WooCommerce, a product bundle is a single product that combines different products into a single product to form a product bundle.

Product bundles differ from grouped products as they allow you to include:

  • Simple products / individual products.
  • ​Variable products.
  • ​Composite products.
  • Discounts on products and more.

You’ll be able to upsell extra products and employ some of the best cross-selling strategies in your bundles if you use product bundles.

This tutorial will show you how to create a product bundle using the variable products. You can also sell the variable products in the bundle individually.

How to create a WooCommerce Product Bundle with Variable Products?

To create a product bundle with variable products, I’ll be using the WooCommerce Product Bundle plugin. It also allows you to easily create product bundles with a Divi module to help you control how it is displayed.

Note: To keep this tutorial to the point and precise, I am assuming that you already have added the variable products in your WooCommerce store that you want to offer as a product bundle. If not, first you need to add the variable products to your WooCommerce store and then you can follow along with the tutorial. 

1. Install and Activate the WooCommerce Product Bundles Plugin

Note: You can skip this step if you have already installed and activated the WooCommerce Product Bundle plugin. 

To install the WooCommerce Product Bundle plugin, you will need to install the Woosuite Core plugin and activate it with the help of a license key. We have created a Quick Start Guide for you to figure out how to install and activate the WooCommerce Product Bundle plugin.

2. Create a WooCommerce Product Bundle with Variable Products

We need to create our first product bundle by grouping the variable products you have in your store. 

To create a product bundle, navigate to Products » Add New from your WordPress dashboard.

1. Give a Name to the Product Bundle

Now in the Product Name field, give a name to the product bundle. I have given it the name “Fashion Trio” as I’ll be adding 3 products to the bundle. 

2. Add Product Category

Now we need to assign a category to the product bundle to keep everything organized. To assign the category, click on the checkbox or You can create a new category by clicking on the “Add New Category” button in the Product Category section. 

3. Add the Product Short Description

Now scroll to the Product Short Description section and add a short and precise description of the product bundle. 

4. Add the Product Image

Now in the Product Image section on the right side of your screen, we need to add an image of the product bundle. 

5. Scroll to the Product Data Section

Now scroll down to the Product Data section and select “Bundled Product” from the dropdown. Once you select it, you’ll see a new “Bundled Products” tab in the left side of the section. 

3. Configure the Product Bundle Settings

Now from the “Bundled Products” tab, you can select the products to make a group or bundle, and set the pricing and quantity of each selected variable product. Following are the few settings that you can configure here. 

3.1. Template: I have kept it to the default. You can change it to “Above the fold” and if you like it you can continue with it.   

3.2. Apply to: This field defines how you want to group the products. You’ll get the following options in the dropdown.

  • Products
  • Product Categories
  • Product Tags

I have selected the individual products from the dropdown as I want to bundle the individual variable products. 

3.3. Select Products: In this field, you can select the individual variable products you want to offer as a product bundle. As the tutorial aims to create a product bundle with variable products So, I have selected the 3 different variable products. 

3.4. Quantity: In this field, you need to enter the number of each product you want to offer in the bundled product. I have entered the quantities as shown in the screenshot below.

3.5. Price Display: You’ll get three options in the dropdown

  • Combined: It means that the prices of each product are summed up and displayed to the user.
  • Range: It means that the price will be shown in the range, from the lowest price of the product in the bundle to the highest price of the product in the bundle.
  • Custom: It means that you can specify the price of the bundled product as you want.

For this tutorial, I have selected the “Combined” price display.

3.6. Enable “Add all to cart”: This field allows you to choose if you want to display the Add all to cart button on the bundle product page to add all the product items in the bundle, to the cart at once. I have selected “Yes” from the dropdown.

3.7. Hide Individual “Add to cart” button: This field allows you to choose if you want to display the add to cart button for the individual products in the bundle. I have selected “No” from the dropdown. 

3.8. Hide “Individual Quantity Field”: This field lets you choose if you want to allow the users to choose the quantity of the individual product. Keep this to Yes, if you don’t want to allow the users to change the individual product quantity in the bundled product.

3.9. Hide Individual Prices: This field allows you to choose whether you want to display individual products’ prices. I have selected “No” from the dropdown as I want to display the prices of individual products.

3.10. Hide Individual Description: This field enables you to select whether you want to display the description of each product on the bundled product page or not. I have chosen “Yes” from the dropdown. 

3.11. Fixed Discount: In this field, you can enter the discount you want to offer on the bundled product. I am offering a discount of $15 on this product bundle. 

7.  Publish the Product

Now scroll down above and click on the Publish button to publish the product. 

4. Navigate to the WooCommerce Product Bundles

Once you have created the bundled product with variable products, now navigate to the WooSuite » WooCommerce Product Bundles from your WordPress admin dashboard. 

5. Enable the Show Amount

Now from the plugin’s settings, toggle the “Show Amount” button to enable it. This will display the discount price on the product page. After that click on the green “Save Changes” button at the top right corner of your screen to save the settings. 

6. Final Results

Now to test our product bundle, let’s visit the product page of the bundled product. Here are the results I got. 

Now the users can select the variation of the product they want and purchase the compete bundled product at a discounted price. 

7. Customize the Product Variations(Optional)

As we have added variable products in the bundled product, you can use Variation Swatches for WooCommerce plugin to convert the dropdown variations into color, button, or image swatches.

This is a great way to show potential customers the different customization options available to them at a glance.
